Between the lockdowns of Alpha in 2020 and the lockdowns of Delta in 2021, Sydney moved tentatively, and I scoured the city looking for places to mark this strange quiet. The closed Lord Nelson, its flags flying as if remembering a more flamboyant time, couldn’t tell the story more poignantly, nor more beautifully.
