‘Telling Stories Out of School’

Under the supervisorship of Ross Gibson, Elizabeth’s PhD thesis, entitled ‘Telling Stories Out of School’, examined the reinterpretation of scientific investigative processes through the lens of personal narrative. Crossing over the disciplines of ethnographic film and the anthropology of science, my film installation, Double Double, consisted of four film portraits of female scientists whose interwoven narrative accounts of their discovery experiences reveal profound and ‘untold’ insights into the scientific discovery process, illuminating its accidental and often serendipitous nature.
